Introducing Our Learning Programme for Design, Innovation, and Systems Leadership

At Here I Am, we’ve developed a learning offer for organisations navigating complex, under-resourced, and rapidly changing environments.

This is not traditional training. It’s a hands-on, modern approach to building the real-world capabilities teams need to design better solutions, adapt faster, and deliver greater impact - with fewer resources.

Grounded in inclusive design, digital innovation, and systems thinking, our offer supports both local and global organisations to work more strategically, lead with confidence, and collaborate more effectively across contexts.

Our Five Core Learning Areas

  1. Scoping, Learning & Systems Influence: Techniques for framing the right problems and navigating complexity through participatory research and systems thinking.
  2. Creative Problem Solving & Ideation: Tools and methods to generate and test ideas quickly - grounded in real needs and lived experience.
  3. Inclusive Design & Digital Literacy: Support to design or adapt services and tools that are user-led, accessible, and right for low-resource or digitally excluded contexts.
  4. Agile Project Management: Simple, low-risk ways to experiment, learn, and deliver value faster - using widely available tools and methods.
  5. Collaboration, Leadership & Communication: Practical support for leading diverse teams, facilitating change, and communicating with clarity and purpose.

Who can benefit from this?

Whether you're:

  • Supporting a cohort of local partners
  • Embedding innovation in your programme teams
  • Shifting your delivery model to respond to resource constraints

our learning journeys help your teams build the skills, confidence, and clarity to lead from where they are - and create more meaningful, sustainable change.

Localisation is one outcome of this kind of learning - but the deeper impact is about enabling better collaboration, faster impact and local autonomy, in contexts where it’s needed most.

Why This? Why Now?

The tools available to reach, support, and collaborate with vulnerable communities - and each other have evolved rapidly - from low-bandwidth digital platforms to participatory design methods and open-source innovation frameworks.

But many INGOs are still struggling to adapt and capitalise on this new landscape. What’s emerging is a world of opportunity - but only for organisations ready to work differently.

Many INGOs and international organisations are still operating with traditional, top-down systems - designed for stability, hierarchy, and long timelines.

But today’s reality is different:

The sector needs to evolve fast, deliver smarter, and to do more with less - with power and capability much closer to the ground.

Over the last few years, we’ve been working alongside teams across the globe to meet this new reality - helping them build the practical skills and mindsets needed for inclusive innovation, adaptive delivery, and meaningful systems influence.

Proven Impact: UNHCR Digital Gender Inclusion & Innovation Bootcamps

One of our most energising collaborations has been co-leading UNHCR’s Digital Gender Inclusion & Innovation Bootcamps. Delivered in 26 countries and four languages, these learning experiences supported women-led, refugee-led, and community-based organisations to lead inclusive design and digital innovation efforts in their own communities.

The results have been transformative:

  • 44 grassroots organisations supported, reaching over 1,600 women, girls, refugees, and host community members
  • 8 pilot initiatives launched, tackling issues from livelihoods and education to online safety and civic engagement
  • In Kenya, 70% of participants began earning income through online platforms; 95% now use LinkedIn to grow their networks
  • In Rwanda, pilots achieved a 94% increase in digital literacy and a 30% reduction in time and cost of community projects
  • In 2024, 100% of participants rated the experience as highly valuable, with many going on to scale their work, attract new funding, and train others

This experience has been truly transformative for our organization. We are inspired and motivated by the remarkable community-based, refugee-led, and women-led organizations that came together to bridge the Digital Gender Divide for displaced women and girls. The bootcamp provided us with a unique opportunity to amplify our impact and equip ourselves with the necessary skills to build inclusive and innovative solutions. The guidance and support from experienced mentors have been invaluable in helping us turn our visions into reality.

Our Learning Offer

The bootcamps are just one example of our broader learning offer - which we’re now sharing more openly with partners. We’ve designed this offer for organisations that are ready to evolve:

From traditional delivery to agile, inclusive innovation - grounded in local leadership, digital capability, and strategic systems thinking.

Our learning journeys are modular, practical, and tailored to context. Whether delivered in person, remotely or through self paced e-learning, they equip teams to work more effectively with what they have - and build toward what they need.

Let’s Work Together

If you’re exploring new ways to build capacity, support innovation, or strengthen frontline leadership and autonomy, we’d love to talk.

Here I Am team’s exceptional dedication and meticulous planning shone through in every aspect of the UNHCR Digital Gender Inclusion and Innovation Bootcamp. From seamlessly aligning with the bootcamp's main objectives and UNHCR's Age, Gender, and Diversity policy, to going above and beyond to ensure inclusivity and success, HIA's efforts were truly commendable. HIA's partnership not only met expectations but exceeded them.
